hero+care

Truckers are usually the first to stop and offer assistance to other road users in distress. It's thanks to these brave people that our roads are getting better all the time. But HCV cannot reward these acts of bravery if we do not hear about them. Which is why we urge you to send in heroic stories to HCV.

Remember you don't have to be an HCV policyholder to win a hero+care award.

Next time you hear of a truck driver who has done an incredible act of bravery, please let us know.

  2008 hero
The HCV heavy caring hero for 2008 is 11 year-old Joseph Mafokeng who brought a speeding 30t truck to a stop without any hesitation. His dad Abel suffered a diabetic attack while driving. Joseph promptly hopped onto his dad's lap and brought the truck to safety without any casualties or damage to the vehicle. We are extremely proud of Joseph's bravery and award him with the prestigious honour of being the HCV Hero for 2008.
