Lombard appointed risk carrier for load+care
Heavy Commercial Vehicle Underwriting Managers (Pty) Limited (HCV) started a new Underwriting Management relationship with Lombard Insurance Company Limited with effect from 1 January 2009.

With this business decision we are now able to harness even more benefits. As of 1 January 2010, HCV will underwrite goods in transit (load+care) with the same risk carrier.

How will this affect the broker?
The HCV team promises that it will be business as usual. There will be no changes to our rates or our systems. The policy wording has been combined with the truck+care policy wording. Most importantly HCV's philosophy of caring for trucks+truckers remains at the core of everything we do.

How will this affect policyholders?
There will be absolutely no disruption in cover. Policyholders' cover will simply be transferred.

Gratitude to SaXum
HCV would like to express their gratitude to SaXum for their support over the past five years.

  Caring despite the crunch
HCV is aware that in these difficult times policyholders will be struggling with higher and erratic Diesel prices, increased toll fees and SASRIA premiums, which we have no control over and which add to overhead burdens.

Where policyholders are experiencing cash flow problems, HCV requests that they consult with their brokers to look for solutions. We cannot promise reduced premiums but would prefer to discuss potential problems to avoid “returned” debit orders.

Remember, a strictly disciplined fleet is a far more manageable and therefore lower costing fleet than a fleet with poor maintenance discipline and no preventative maintenance plan.

HCV cares for trucks+truckers and are ready to assist policyholders and brokers wherever possible.

HCV's revised policy wording will benefit policyholders
A revised policy wording was long overdue. The fact that we decided to transfer our load+care portfolio to Lombard Insurance Company gave us the opportunity to amend our existing wording in a positive way and to incorporate the terms and conditions relating to goods in transit (load+care).

How will this affect the broker?
All policyholders will be converted to the revised policy wording with effect from 1 January 2010. Due to the positive amendments policyholders will only benefit from the changes.

You will also see changes on our policy schedule to be in line with our policy wording. The excess structure in respect of load+care is changing to benefit policyholders.

How will this affect policyholders?
Your policyholders' will benefit from the amendments.

Any new claims effective from 1 January 2010 will be settled according to the attached policy wording and the HCV team promises that it will be business as usual.

Any questions?
Please do not hesitate to contact your broker or Portfolio Manager if you require further information.
